Doctors Invoices in Germany |
|
|
|
Doctors' invoices issued outside Europe must frequently be paid by the
employer.
Working abroad is not only a personal challenge for the
employee due to
the new cultural and professional experienced abroad - it also poses a
challenge for the employer.
Peter Schoof knows what he is talking about: two years after returning
from South Africa, he is now head of the International Transfer Center
for DaimlerChrysler in Stuttgart. With almost 1000 expatriates, the
company has a whole department with a staff of more than 40 men and
women devoted to the needs and interests of its employees abroad.
Health insurance is an important aspect.
The first difficulties lie in the vagaries of German insurance
regulations. Statutory health insurance funds only reimburse the costs
usually incurred in Germany, although they are often very much higher
in other countries. Costs incurred in non-European countries are
frequently not accepted at all.
Employers of people with private health insurance must beware of
another trap: if the insureds transfer their permanent place of
residence to the foreign country, the private health insurer can
terminate their insurance cover.
