This year a totally new system of granting visas and work permits has
come into force. The general rule for a Residence Permit is, the more
you benefit
Germany, the better status you will receive from the
beginning.
The most highly qualified will receive red carpet treatment;
specialists are free to take a job after privileged persons have had a
chance to accept it. Those less qualified are not actively recruited to
live and work in Germany. There are already more than enough poorly
educated, unemployed persons around. If you plan to invest € 1
mio. and employ 10 persons, you will receive permanent residency
right from the start – now called a Settlement Permit. If you fall
short of these requirements, it does not mean that you will be denied
entry. Not at all. The government will simply consider your case based
upon the business plan you submit. It is quite likely that you will
receive the necessary permits.
The new law does not require you to run to the office now and get a new
permit just because the sys-tem and the names have changed. The status
you have already been granted cannot be revoked just be-cause the law
has changed. However, the next time you apply you will not receive an
Aufenthaltsbefugnis anymore but an Aufenthaltsgenehmigung mentioning
the purpose of your sojourn.
