Small, yes. But it is land...and it is Free. I thought this was a bit
crazy, but after seeing the jubilation on my co-workers face as he
became a landowner in Hawaii, I thought... this could be fun!
New York, NY (December 15, 2005) - Land in each and every state in the
country is being given away free by American Acres, Inc., a New York
City based company. In conjunction with the launch of its new website,
http://www.OwnAPieceofAmerica.com, American Acres will be promoting the
site by offering one square inch parcels of land free to all Internet
visitors.
Then, beginning in 2006, American Acres, will start selling legal deeds
of land, not for individual states, but to all the states on one single
"Deed to the United States", which would entitle bearer legal ownership
to land in all 50 states at one time...on one legal document.
Both the individual State Deed and the 50 State Deed (the "Deed to the
United States") convey ownership in the form of a quit claim deed with
each parcel being approximately one-square inch or a 6,272,640th
undivided interest in each one acre property.
Scott Moger, president of American Acres, is quick to point out that
"these 'mini-estates' can't be built on, lived on or retired on. Owners
cannot make any improvements or develop the parcels. Owners shall not
occupy the parcels and must grant rights of ingress and egress over
their parcel. But they are completely free of additional
responsibility and obligations. And the fun of bragging about owning
land in any and all of the United States is priceless, to say the
least!"
Also as indicated on the website http://www.OwnAPieceofAmerica.com,
"owners won't have to pay taxes of any kind...ever, and will not be
required to mow, pick up trash, or comply with any local, state or
federal regulations."
Ownership of the one-square inch "parcels" in the "Own a Piece of
America" program is certified by individually numbered Deeds registered
with American Acres, Inc. in the owner's name and will be listed in the
"Landholder's Property Registration Roll" on the website.
The project had taken over 10 years to put together with the land
purchased one acre at a time, state by state, by American Acres,
Inc. A “no action” letter was issue by the United States
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as well as the Attorney
General of New York State stating that the deeds are being sold as
novelty items and not as investments; owners cannot resell them for
profit or benefit financially in any way.
The exact location of the land is indicated on the individual State
Pages or Property Location Guide to all 50 States to which purchasers
will have access once they are a registered owner. They can check
back anytime to see their name and find out who their neighbors
are. Or they can send friends there to “check-it-out”.
“We’ve anticipate a lot of international interest, not only by
foreigners in countries like China, Japan, Germany, Russian, Romania,
Poland, and the other Eastern European countries,” Moger said, “but
from Americans living abroad. They’re certain to want “A Piece of
America” to hang in their homes and remind them of the USA.”
The "Deeds to the United States" are imaginative and unique gifts for
any occasion…for a birthday, for Christmas, graduation,
retirement...for any special occasion. You then can tell the recipient
of your gift and have them check the “Landholder’s Property
Registration Roll” on www.Ownapieceofamerica.com to see their name.
Mr. Moger continued “a 'Deed to the United States' is really a unique
gift which is perfect for everyone. Adults, children – especially
the ‘person who has everything’ – are sure to be thrilled with this
unusual opportunity to own a piece of America. It’s also ideal
for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, graduation, retirement or even the
Fourth of July.”
When the Deeds are sold on the website, landowners will have several
options: they can claim their free land and see their name listed on
the www.OwnAPieceofAmerica.com website; if they wish, they can spend
only $2.95 and receive printed proof of ownership immediately via an
emailed Deed imprinted with their name and parcel number; for gifts
they can order Deeds (for individual states or for all 50 states) to be
imprinted and framed or mounted on a plaque.
