How to Find a New Job PDF Print E-mail
ImageUnfortunately the perspectives for a development of the German economy in 2004, which may result in an increase of hirings, are not very promising.
But don't be downhearted, here's a guide to finding a job in Germany.

This means that jobs will generally remain short and only be offered in case of:

    * necessary replacements
    * urgent need for specific technical or management competence
    * start ups or development of new business fields where positions cannot be filled by the available staff.

To find a new job, especially as a short term replacement for a terminated employment contract , will therefore stay difficult throughout the year. As a consequence the search should follow all opportunities in parallel such as:

    * response to job advertisements in the newspapers
    * placement of a job request in several job markets in the internet such as Monster or Jobpilot.
    * Using the link http://217.19.189.82/admin/customer.php?ID= This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it you can place yourself in a pool recently created exclusively for personnel consultants. With this link the personal part of your profile will be administered by SELECTEAM, while it will be accessible to the community in an anonymous form to guarantee confidentiality.
    * use of search engines such as http://www.evita.de to surf through the various job markets (a very easy and increasingly efficient way)

All these opportunities will cost you nothing except time. But it may be worthwhile to take the initiative and spend a few 100 € for a placement of a job request (Stellengesuch) in the Süddeutsche Zeitung or the Frankfurter Allgemeine. This will bring you in a position where the companies or recruiting agents have to apply with you and you may have the choice.

In most cases an important prerequisite will be a good command of German. So even if you are enjoying a firm employment in an English speaking environment at the time being, take any chance of improving your German to hedge against future changes within your company .

If you are not yet acquainted with the interview procedures in German companies or with the formalities such as an employment contract you may ask a personnel consultant for his advice rsp. coaching support.
